Crowns
Crowns can be made from different materials like porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or even gold. Porcelain crowns are usually the best if you want a natural look because they can be matched to the color of your other teeth, so they blend right in.
Getting a crown usually takes 2 to 3 visits. First, your dentist will reshape the tooth by filing it down to fit the crown. Then, they’ll take a mold of your tooth and the teeth around it and send it off to a lab to make your crown. You’ll get a temporary crown to wear while you wait.
It usually takes 2 to 3 weeks for your permanent crown to be ready. When you come back, your dentist will cement the new crown in place. Once it’s done, you’ll have your smile back! Crowns are pretty durable and can last 10 to 15 years if you take care of them like your other teeth—brushing and flossing regularly.
